Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). As a young girl of just five when she left for Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma was aware she would like to become an actress. Over many years she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre academy where she studied the art of acting and dancing. At the age of 10, she performed as well as taken as the main character in several Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre professor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint of their auditions after eight. They were cast as the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's debut film on the screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. It broke all records with regards to opening day and weekend numbers, and was the most successful 2001 film. Critics praised the film and the acting performances of the three top young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British publication, gave Emma high marks for her exceptional performance. Then Emma was nominated for five prizes for her work in the film and was awarded The Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in a Feature Film.
